Depending on the year and location, the nesting season for turtles in Ontario can start as early as May and continue all the way up to the middle of July (Figure 1). The soil qualities (locations with a loose, sandy foundation) and the amount of sunlight that the area receives are two of the primary considerations that female turtles take into account while selecting nesting grounds.
